Education involves principles and ideals that are passed on to the students, when knowledge is shared and taught. Many contemporary parents are influenced by Charlotte Mason, an educator of young women in England, in the mid to late 1800's Miss Charlotte Mason was the head mistress for an infant school and began a teacher's college for young women. Today, parents are reading her books and letters. There is a six volume set called The Original Home Schooling Series.
Mrs. Karen Andreola is a pioneer of the Charlotte Mason movement. She has written an interpretation of Miss Mason's philosophy, in her book called A Charlotte Mason Companion. This idea of learning involves naarration, copywork, nature books, music and art. Miss Mason prefered the entire works of classic literature to textbooks, which take portions of whole books. She had centered education around the love of learning. You give the chld noble, loving and right ideas and it will bear fruit in his/her life.
Charlotte believed education was divided into three parts encompassing atmosphere, discipline and life. Many home schoolers are taught using this method, because their parents desire to teach to the whole child and not just their mind.
