People are kind and generous in South Korea, but the initiation of a conversation is the responsibility of the tourist, in the older cities such as Busan.  More modern cities such as Seoul, in the Southern peninsula have higher incomes and the standard of living is also much higher.  Since 1987 South Korea has a functioning democracy.  There is an intense energy in South Korea, which is experienced by all who visit.
